Kansas City Water Heaters, Common Problems:
Water Heater Too Noisy?
Leaking Water Heater?
No Hot Water?
Not Enough Hot Water?
Water Heater Solutions for Your Kansas City Home:
Water Heater Too Noisy: Having a noisy water heater is mostly an irritation, but sometimes it can also mean you have a problem.
Sediment gathers at the bottom of your hot water heater tank over time. The rumbling noise that you hear is the sound of expanding heated water escaping from sediment at the bottom of a tank. This is a sign that you may be paying more in your gas and electric bills because of a less efficient water heater.
If you hear a high pitched noise from your water heater, this could be a sign of high water pressure coming into the tank. Your water heater has a temperature/pressure relief valve, which is designed to open and release water when the temperature is too high or if there is too much water pressure build-up inside the tank. If the valve doesn’t open, this can cause many problems including plumbing leaks, cracks and sometimes even a burst water heater.
Leaking Water Heater: If there is water leaking from the bottom of your water heater, this usually means there is a crack in the internal tank and your water heater will need to be replaced. Sometimes a water heater can develop a leak from the top. This is usually caused by a fitting or a plumbing part that has malfunctioned. In this case, the water heater can most often be repaired.
No Hot Water:
Gas Water Heaters: If you have a gas water heater and you are not getting any hot water, it usually means the pilot light on your water heater has gone out or your water heater has a part that is not working properly. You should try re-lighting your pilot light first. If you have tried to light your pilot and it still won’t light, give us a call and a Razor Rooter licensed master plumber can diagnose your problem and let you know what the solution is. We offer same day service so you soon will have hot water for your shower, washing machine, and dishwasher.
Electric Water Heaters: If you have an electric water heater and you are not getting any hot water, it’s possible that your electric box breaker has tripped or the water heater has a faulty thermostat. You should check your electric breaker box, and if it hasn’t tripped, then most often the water heater thermostat or another part has broken. Call us today, and we’ll have you back in working order in no time.
Not Enough Hot Water: Do you run out of hot water during a shower or are you not able to enjoy a hot steaming bath? Standing dripping wet in a cold shower is never fun, so call us today for a repair or replacement. Some of the problems that cause not enough hot water are listed below:
For a gas or electric water heater, the thermostat could be broken.
The dip tube inside the water heater could be bad, which would cause a reduced flow of hot water through your pipes.
If your water heater is 8 years or more old or if you live in an area with hard water, your water heater could be full of sediment. This will lessen the amount of hot water a water heater can make.
If you are have just moved into your new home, there may be a smaller water heater in your new home as compared to your prior one.
It you have added to your family, your hot water needs may have increased.
Tankless Water Heaters in Kansas City:
Tankless water heaters work in a different way than conventional storage tanks. In a tankless water heater, water passes through a small chamber or box and is heated by a large gas burner or by a heat exchanger as the water passes through. This requires that more gas or electricity is used at the time the water is being heated, but tankless water heaters do not use any gas or electricity when your hot water heater is not in use. Tankless water heaters cost more upfront than a conventional storage type water heater, but you save money over time because the water is not being heated constantly.
